Templo Diez is niet van de straat. De Haagse band vindt haar inspiratie bij schrijvers als Bukowski of Fante. Muzikaal wordt er veel leentjebuur gespeeld bij the Velvet Underground. Hoboken is best een goede plaat geworden. De negen songs zijn in iedere geval een verademing tussen de confectiemuziek die doorgaans gemaakt wordt. Nummers als Song VI en het openingsnummer Sedan zitten prima in elkaar. Absoluut hoogtepunt is The Devil In You. In dat onherbergzame nummer lijkt alles waar Templo Diez voor staat samen te komen. Templo Diez durft iets afwijkends te doen, en dat siert ze. Soms is het Velvet-gehalte wel een beetje te hoog, en dan blijkt dat sommige nummers en arrangementen nog net iets beter, of liever krachtiger hadden gekund. (DS)

Templo Diez is not common. The band from the Hague finds its inspiration in the works of Fante and Bukowski. Musically, they're closer to the Velvet Underground. Hoboken is a really good record. Those 9 songs are a relief contrasting with the ready-made music that's currently everywhere. Tracks as Song VI and the opening Sedan are excellently built ; the absolute highlight is The Devil In You. In this song, Templo Diez succeeds in everything they're standing for. They dare to do something different and that's to their credit. Sometimes, the Velvet attitude is a little too present, and then some songs and arrangements seem like they could have been just a little bit better, or rather said, stronger.
